Description

One of the challenges of this type of relationship, as one might imagine, is the flow of information between sales teams in two different companies spread across multiple countries.

The IBM-Symantec Sales and Technical Portal was launched to facilitate the timely and efficient flow of information between these two organizations.

Here are a few features that make this portal uniquely effective:

River of News

The front page of the portal features a list of new posts (river of news) that’s smart – anonymous visitors see items that are public. Registered users see a list that includes both public and privileged information. A quick visit to the sites’ home page brings sales team members up to date quickly and painlessly.

RSS and Email Integration

For those who don’t have the time to visit the site, updates are available via both RSS feed and/or an opt-in Email notification system.

“Smart” Contact Form

To help sales contacts get in touch with the right resources, the portal includes a smart form that employees can use to submit questions and requests for information. Requests are automatically routed to the appropriate expert from each company.

User List Export

To keep management connected with registered members of the portal, a “quick export” link is available to those with a manager role. This tool exports each user’s contact information and email address into a portable file suitable for import into any standard spreadsheet application.

Site Analytics

To know what part of the site is working and what part is not, site analytics are very important. The IBM-Symantec portal comes complete with analytics that allow management to see who’s visiting the site, how often they’re visiting, and what parts of the site are being visited the most.

Sales and Technical Forums

To build a repository of sales and technical information, site planners included forums where employees can ask sales and technical questions. When a question is posted, an email is sent to subject exports to let them know there’s a question waiting to be answered. Answered questions are archived and visible to other employees for future reference.
